The circle of life
We all know of that thing called “the circle of life” right? We are born, and from the minute we are born, we begin to die. Technically, yes. But while we are ‘dying’ what about living? I work in the health care field, and I see many people who are ‘dying of cancer’ or ‘dying of renal failure.’ What about living with cancer, or living with renal failure? In most cases, people really are seeing the glass as half empty more than they care to admit to.
I know that many will argue that saying ‘dying with whatever’ is a way of acknowledging the inevitable. And, it is important to know what is coming. I do, however, feel that if people can celebrate the successess, no matter how little they may seem, than they are acknowledging what is really, truly important. Your loved one- who you think is dying of cancer (or whatever their ailment may be), woke up today. That is a success. They are lving with the terrible disease.
It’s all a point of view really. I personally feel that the glass is half full if you wake up today…..not half empty because you had to get up and go to work. Be thankful that you have a job to go to.
Can you imagine what it would be like on all medical forms that we ever fill out if we were always looking at it like we are dying from the moment we were born?
