Beckies Spot

Okay ladies…..it’s time to think.  I mean, really think.  This applies to romantic relationships as well as friendships.  What keeps us coming back?  Perhaps some of you are sitting out there thinking “Back?  I never left…”  Well good for you.  But if you have never been in a romantic relationship or in a friendships where there was a disagreement that actually hurt one of you- well it sounds like it is too good to be true.  I’ll bet it is.  I know that Brent and I are lobster lovers.  I know this because the toughest points of our lives, we’ve been there to support one another, help one another in any way we can and we have supported one another.  At some point, it stopped being my life, or his life.  It is our life together.  That doesn’t mean it’s been all peaches and roses.  Oh, at times, it was so rough I wondered if we’d make it.  There were times we both thought it was over, that nothing could save our relationship- so let’s save our friendship….and you know, through that, God spared us.  Looking back on us, I can see what kept me coming back.  Not of my own want- except that I truly do want what God wants- and not of his own want.  Personally, what kept me going back was knowing that he was my friend.  He always has been, is and always will be, my friend first.  It is that of which we have the capability to talk about our differences, to debate them, and yes, even to agree that we will disagree.  It is that of which we go to bed loving one another…after ugly words have been spoken, misplaced out of anger.  It is that of which we have an understanding…..that is unconditional.

So, for Brent and I, that is what keeps me coming back.  What about you?  I mean, think about it- and know why you are friends with someone, or in a romantic relationship with someone.  Why?  What brought you there?  What keeps you there?  And when it gets tough….what keeps you coming back?
