Music to my…heart

Published by *Beckie* under Musings Edit This

For me, music has always been theraputic.  Music can be anything you want it to be, as you can recreate songs.  You can rewrite words, speed up or slow down the tempo, and depending on how much energy you put in to it, change the tone completely.  I play the piano, I have fiddled around with the drums, and I play guitar.  I am not a true Guitar Hero, but I love to play, and learn something new each time I pick one up.

I am the girl that listens to everything from cds full of hymns to the occasional rap song.  I play it loud and proud in my kitchen while I am doing the dishes, I listen to music while I am on the computer, and I sing at the top of my lungs while I am in the car.  Music inspires me.

This morning in church, we sand a song that I have sung hundreds of times in various churches.  It’s called “Oh how He love you and me.”  The words are simple:

“Oh how he loves you and me, oh how he loves you and me.  He gave his life what more could he give?  Oh how he loves you, oh how he loves me, oh how he loves you and me.”

The simplicity and the beauty of those words choked me up.  That song and the reminders contained within it really set the tone for the rest of my church service experience.  This morning, knowing that I am loved….by someone out there….it comforted me.  I allowed tears to fall for something very specific that I have kept inside.  Tears that I have bit back dozens of times.  The strength that those words gave me….it allowed me to be free….if only for a second.
